Lions District 22W Governor Susan Bonura of the South Carroll Lioness Lions Club recently made her official visit to the Francis Scott Key Lions Club. She was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Barbara Brimigion and Cabinet Treasurer Gary Buchman, both of Freedom District Lions Club. Her presentation focused on heart.
Local Lions clubs are the heart of Lions Clubs International and of our communities. Evoking the organization’s motto, Bonura stated, “Lions are the WE in WE SERVE” and that “service to others defines who we are.” While indicating “our motto is timeless,” she continued, “Lions matter now more than ever” with the organization’s worldwide focus on five areas: hunger; vision; environment; diabetes; and pediatric cancer. Lions Clubs International’s goal is to serve 200 million people by 2021; and Bonura reminded members that “Lions are just ordinary people who reach out to others.”

Lion Raymond Gafney accepts congratulations on 50 years’ Lions membership from District Governor Susan Bonura.
As part of her official duties, she made a presentation to Lion Raymond Gafney, honoring him for his 50 years of service to the organization.
Joining the Lions at this meeting was Ofc. Nicole Hamilton of the Frederick Police Department, invited to a meeting as part of the club’s “Operation Blue Thank You,” a program designed to thank local police officers for their service.
