LAURIE SAVAGE MAKES PRESENTATION TO FSK LIONS CLUB

November 26, 2013

Laurie Savage recently spoke to the Francis Scott Key Lions Club about the importance of today’s dairy farms and farmers in our food chain and the economy. She and her family own and operate Savage-Acres Farm near Dickerson, where they milk 200 cows twice a day, every day. Her presentation, “Your Milk Comes From a Good Place,” related that Frederick County is one of the “Big Three” (with Carroll and Washington Counties) in Maryland’s dairy production and dispelled some common milk myths. Consumers may check the plant code on their dairy containers at www.whereismymilkfrom.com to see where the product was processed or check www.dairyspot.com for dairy news, information, and recipes.

Savage & Lion President Gray Savage and FSK Lions President Paul Gray are pictured with some of the handouts and information from the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program.

The FSK Lions meet the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Barbara Fritchie Candystick Restaurant, 1513 West Patrick Street, Frederick. For additional information on the FSK Lions or on becoming a Lion, visit www.fsklions.org or contact Membership Chairman Darlene Aulls at 301/662-2360.
