Zone Chair's Message

In 2004 I was invited to visit the Francis Scott Key Lions Club.  After that visit I was happy to join the Francis Scott Key Lions Club.  I am proud to be a member of this club, and Lions International that is in 200 countries and has 1.3 million members worldwide.  Lions International Service Organization is the largest service club in the world.

The word "SERVICE" differentiates Lions from any other club.

In 1920's Helen Keller asked the Lions to be "KNIGHTS of the BLIND".  The primary mission of the Lions is to prevent blindness throughout the world.

The Francis Scott Key Lions Club will continue this mission in Frederick County with pre-school vision screening, purchases of eyeglasses for the less fortunate, and recycling of used eyeglasses as well as hearing aids.

This year is going to include a lot of learning for me and I hope fun and productivity for the club.  This year I hope there will be an increase in membership, lots of fundraisers to fund the programs and activities, and for the club to have more of a public image.

I thank each member for the hard work and support that has made this club what it is today.  Now I am asking for that same support to continue no matter how small it may be as long as "WE SERVE TOGETHER".

Lion Paul W. Gray
