Lions are
never far from a good restaurant. It goes back to our roots, when Melvin
Jones began the luncheon club which would become the Lions. In Frederick,
the FSK Lions meet at the Barbara Fritchie Restaurant. The restaurant
is known by the distinctive candy cane integrated in the sign, and named
for a fiery, independent woman who defied Confederate Troops during
the Civil War.
Barbara
Fritchie's independence was memorialized by John Greenleaf Whittier.
